I am currently teaching some Art Lessons still and we are covering George Bridgeman's drawing techniques. Every aspiring artist needs to study and copy from this great master teacher.
Bridgeman had such a grasp on the strategy of a strong underlying drawing. The principle to remember is that you can always soften a drawing, and it will soften. It is harder to strengthen later on in the process.
Simplicity is key also. Notice in these images from the Hand's book for example. There are very few curved lines. Draw from one point to the next and then change direction and make a relatively sharp transition. The transition will soften later.
There is so much to teaching drawing but that is a beginning.
Thank you for visiting and here's to the next post...

A Student's Painting
I am currently working with a middle-aged guy on his acrylic painting skills. At this point, he has already grasped some drawing skills and is ready to start completing paintings. He completed this painting in 2 hours. The steps included: Choosing the subject; Drawing directly onto the canvas; and finally, Painting in a direct, alla prima style, which is fitting to acrylic paint. It is 95% student work. He did an excellent job, don't you think?
If you live in the Birmingham, AL area, why don't you contact me for lessons? My email is cloriot999@gmail.com.

Recent work: Study in Oranges
Here is an alla prima painting created for my list of 30 pieces I need to complete this year.
Enjoy!
Also, wish me luck. There is a lot of work ahead.

Currently for 2014
Just to let everyone know that I am just beginning my blog and have only a hint of ideas for posts. However, swing by every once in a while and there should be a new post. I plan to share my thoughts on a number of art related subjects.
There are so many times I find myself at work during the day coming up with things to write on, but forgetting them as I come home. Isn't that life for ya. I think I will jot down a few notes when the idea springs.
Finally, just to let you know that this blog is not primarily a musing blog, but a place to share my work and make contact with you the surfer. Enjoy your surfing, and this blog. Make it back soon, and I promise to have some new posts and pages.
Deo Gratia,
Chad
