Watercolor and Oil Portraits

Watercolor

Finishing a formal watercolor or oil portrait of your loved one is a privilege for me.  For the past 15 years, I have studied both watercolor and oil painting, along with composition, to be able to complete these works of art.

We begin with an interview and some preliminary sketches.  It is essential that I get to know the subject I will be painting.  I like to take about 100 photos as well and then you may choose the general pose.  To prepare for this most important meeting, several outfits should be chosen along with hair and makeup.

Then it is off to my studio in Alabama, where I begin the color studies and sketch for approval.  I will work with you on the approval process.  This will signal me that you are happy with the direction we are going.

Oil

What a thrill when the final piece is approved and delivered!  I usually leave the framing to the client, but can make suggestions.  Watercolor portraits are delivered in an archival matte and protective cover.  Oil paintings are delivered, when dry, in a protective cover.  The oil portraits are gallery wrapped, so can be left unframed.

Enjoy! and Deo Gratia.
